The king was dethroned this year. Italy won the race to be the most popular destination for honeymoons, instead of Hawaii. Learn why.
Ask any bride-to be and they’ll tell you that Hawaii is the perfect place to make your honeymoon dreams come true. For nine consecutive years, Hawaii has been the king of the hill in terms of honeymoon destinations. This year, however, the king was dethroned. Italy won the battle for Hawaii.
Italy was ranked third in previous years. However, it was ranked number one in the 11th Annual Modern Bride Survey 2007. It was followed by Costa Rica, Mexico, Tahiti and France. A network of 6,000 luxury agents ranked their top 50 honeymoon destinations in the 11th annual survey.
These results are published in the August/September issue of the magazine. The answer to the question “Why?” is not included in the magazine’s August/September issue.
According to Hawaii’s Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, this trend has been growing over time. As of June 2011, the number of couples who have been on honeymoon in Hawaii has fallen to just under 200,000. This is a 1.2% decrease from 2006.
The beauty of Hawaii is undeniable. It also offers enough adventure and romance for couples to entertain them for many weeks. Italy’s unique features are beginning to be appreciated.
Italian Honeymoon – Venice
With its magical waterways that run throughout the city, Venice is a charming place for young and old. It is romantic enough just to hear the water trickling through the canals. You can also add a romantic gondola ride to set the mood for the whole trip.
Venetians travel by gondola not because they love romance, but because there aren’t any cars! Also, you won’t see any motorbikes and motorized scooters. Why are there no cars? Because they don’t have roads to drive them!
You will find beautiful scenery, palaces, museums, and art collections in Venice. You can also shop at open-air food markets, which are plentiful. You can also dine in any of the many restaurants that offer authentic northern Italian food.
Carnival is a festival you won’t want your family to miss. The Latin word “carnival”, which means “farewell meat,” is the origin of the term “carnival”. Carnival was similar to Fat Tuesday in New Orleans. It began as a way to throw huge parties to get rid of all the meat, eggs, and butter left over before Lent.
Venetians used masks to hide their identities, making Carnival unique. They could enjoy all kinds of debauchery and not be found out. Carnival is now more civilized, but the huge amounts of fun are still high.
Italian Honeymoon – Capri
Capri is another unique spot in Italy. Capri is an island, just like Venice. This region has been attracting tourists for many decades. Capri has been the setting for many movies, and emperors have visited. Honeymooners have also walked along her hillsides. The island’s charm lies in its aromatic scents, which will take you by surprise as soon as your arrive.
With every breath, the scent of fresh, natively grown lemons and the strong perfume of parsley, oregano and thyme fill the air. It is something that almost everyone finds pleasant.
The Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), one of the most visited attractions, is a must-see. The cave’s entrance is located below an underwater opening, where daylight is filtered through the water. The cave’s light is filtered by the water, so that only the blue tones can pass through. It creates an amazing aura of blues, which is simply beyond words.
No matter where you choose to honeymoon, there will be plenty of things to do. You can see more of your destination by taking a cruise. Start by looking online and then you can decide which area will be more appealing to you and your partner-to-be.
